Spam Form Submission Filters

Hey, everybody. I just want to share this awesome tool with you from a software platform called Lead Snap. Now, Lead SNAP has a ton of features, but this particular feature allows you to block incoming form leads at scale. As you can see here, just in a few websites that I have in my account. I’ve already blocked 223 form submissions in the last month. Now this thing is almost 100% accurate. Like 99% of the time you’re going to be blocking only spam form leads and not actual leads. In the way that you do that is you dial in the spam filters. So here’s how the spam filters work. You have this toggle switch here that allows you to enable or disable the filters at any time you enable. And then this particular radio box here allows you to filter leads that contain a URL. So any form lead that’s coming in with a URL in the message is going to be automatically blocked. Now, how many of your potential clients are going to be adding a URL when they’re sending you a message through their form, your form submission on your website, probably next to none, depending on what business you’re in. Obviously, if you’re in a digital agency business and they’re contacting you about SEO services and they’re saying, Look at my website, tell me what you think, Maybe that’s a that’s a case. But if it’s a contracting or some kind of service area business, generally somebody who wants a new patio or something like that or a new roof is not going to add a URL in the message.

So you can automatically filter out all of those right off the gate, right out of the gate, and then you can automatically filter empty leads, meaning when the message is empty, you can automatically filter all of those out. So if you have the mandatory message field on your website itself, then you can you can do practically the same thing. But this allows you to filter them out at the lead snap lead management level instead of at the website level, if that makes sense, and then filter out duplicate leads, you can enable that and it will filter out leads where people are submitting over and over again. And this is generally going to be bot leads anyway, right? So it will filter those out for you. Now this is where it gets really cool when you have phone number filtering. So filter form submissions. If the phone number starts with a plus sign. Now what happens is when people fill out or bots or filling out these forms on your website, a lot of times people in foreign countries, they don’t realize that we don’t put a plus sign in front of our our phone numbers here in the US. So this is clicking. This radio box will automatically filter out any of those form submissions coming in with a plus sign in front. Also, it will this next radio box will filter out any of the form submissions of the phone number, provide a search with a zero.

So that will automatically right there wipe out a whole bunch of spam leads because a lot of these people who are foreign actors or bots, they don’t understand how we do it here. Now, here’s where it gets even cooler. This is where you can do keyword spotting and filter out form leads that have any keyword that you select. Now, I have a whole bank of keywords already loaded into my spam filter like crypto sex dating, so you can do actual strings of words so that or phrases so that it will knock out phrases, but it won’t knock out the individual words. So in this case, advertising through contact forms works. So I was getting a bunch of spam or spam form submissions that had this particular phrase. So I don’t want to block advertising because somebody may be contacting me about advertising. I want to block this entire phrase. So this is pretty cool. Promotion premium woven, Oakley Rayban, all these sunglasses thing. Like I’ve just kind of loaded this up over time and built out this Cialis is in there, a web designer by trade, different things like that. So little by little you can ratchet down, build out your keyword list and filter out more and more of those spam leads that you may be getting. Now, the next cool thing about the lead snap spam filter is that you can actually filter out entire domains. So if you find that you’re getting a ton of spam form submissions from a specific domain, you can just block that domain.

And most of these. Are going to be domains where they’re just used to run these big spam bot form campaigns and whatnot. So word a dot com and you just build this up over time. Again, a lot of r u domains in there and obviously you don’t want to block an entire domain like Gmail or Hotmail or something like that because then anybody submitting a form with any of those email addresses would be automatically filtered out. And you don’t want that. So you just want to gather these domains over time where you find a large number of form submissions coming in that are spam. And when you feel comfortable with that, you can block the entire domain. So that’s how the domain filtering works. Now, email address filtering is a whole nother category or a way that you can block spam form leads coming in. So if you have email addresses themselves, individual emails where you’re getting bombarded with spam from a particular email address, you can just add that right in here. And it’s super simple to add these specific email addresses. Now you see here grammar bill at Hotmail dot com, that’s not going to block all of Hotmail like this domain filtering. It’s just going to block grammar dot bill at Hotmail. So if I go this is how easy it is to. Add a new email to to filter.

I just put the address right in there and just go add email address. You’ll see it down here at the bottom. And then I just go update and it’s as simple as that. And that’s the same way that it works with the keywords and the domain as well. You just drop them right there and you can drop them in bulk. Now here’s a really cool feature that I’ve never seen, and that is filtering by country. So what this system does is it filters out all of the IP addresses from anywhere, any country that you want that you choose. Right? So if any IP address address from any of the places that are checked are sending you a form submission to your website, it will automatically block that message. So we do business in North America, mostly the United States. So we’ve actually blocked the entire world except for the United States and Canada, because almost no situation is there going to be somebody looking for a roofer, a plumber, a home remodeler or something like that, if they’re in Guatemala or if they’re in the Cayman Islands or something like that could happen, but highly unlikely. So we would prefer to block everyone else in the rest of the world, then have to deal with all of that spam that would be coming in from bots from all of these countries. So you can block the entire country, country of Africa, Antarctica, Asia, etc. And that’s where a large degree of spam is coming in from.

So by automatically blocking that, you will see a huge reduction in the spam coming in from your websites. Now, this is going to be different for people who are maybe in Australia or some other country or Europe. You know, obviously you’re the countries of interest for you are going to be different. But again, here in North America, United States mainly we just allow the United States and Canada. So this is an awesome filter that allows you to filter out a huge degree of spam automatically without even having to think about it. And those spam form messages will not be going to your clients. So nowadays, after implementing all of these filters in my Legion assets, I have, if if a spam message does get through, say it’s a keyword that’s not blocked or something like that, then my my clients are like, Hey, what’s this? Why are you sending me spam? It’s like an anomaly for them. Like they’re so used to not having any spam that getting a couple of spam messages is a big deal. So I just tell them, Hey, we’re blocking 99% of these things. We’ve got 230 messages blocked in the last 30 days and that would have gone to you. So that’s the way I approach it.
